8EPTE~IBER 10, 1917. <br /> <br /> Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, September 10, 1917. <br /> <br /> Council met in regular monthly session, and was called to order by <br />Mayor Peterson. Present Councilmen Parks, Koppe, Spencer, Devereaux and <br />Goodpast,~e; absent Polders, Mosher and Spangler. <br /> <br /> Minutes of August 13th and 27th were read ami approved. <br /> <br /> Fin, ther consideration of the petition for 'the improvement of Potter <br />Street and University Street was deferred until September 2Wth.' <br /> <br /> The Street Committee recommended that the 'petition for the improvement <br />of 20th Avenue from Willamette Street to Olive Street by macadamizing be <br />g~,anted. Motion was msx~e, seconded and carried mto adopt the recommendation. <br /> <br /> City Attorney Foster reported that the City would have to comply with <br />the law requiring erection of signs at railroad crossings. The matter was <br />referred to the Street Co~aittee, Engineer and Attorney to determine at what <br />crossings the signs will be required, and confer 'with the Public Service <br />Commission to see what streets can be exempted from the requirements. <br /> <br /> The Street Co~aittee reported an agreement, with the Southern Pacific <br /> Co. relating to the cutting and replacement of the pavement on Blair Boulevard, <br /> in connection with track repairs to be made, and on motion, seconded and <br /> carried the agreement was ratified, and the ~ayo~ and Recorder instructed to <br /> execute for the City. <br /> <br /> The Building Inspector's report for the month of August was read and <br /> ordered filed. <br /> <br /> A petition fo~ a sidewalk on the north side of Sixteenth Avenue East <br /> from Willamette Street to Pearl Street was referred to the Street Committee. <br /> <br /> Mayor Peterson reported that the services of Henry Weber on the Fire <br /> Department and H. L. Traver on the Police Department had been discontinued <br /> August 31st, and recoE~ended that the following sci~edule of salaries be adopted <br /> to become effective as of September first: <br /> <br /> FIRE DEPARTM~{T <br /> <br />W.
