The~e were present Mayor E.U. lee and all members of <br />the-Council except Washburne, who was absent. Meeting called to order by the <br />Mayor.. <br /> <br /> This being the time set for hearing pr~tests as to the proposed re-assesmnen~s <br />of various streets assessed under the 160 foot rule, protests were called for <br />on the' follo'~l~ ~prove~ats: <br /> <br />Paving 13th Avenue from Lincoln to Monroe Streets. There were no protests. <br /> <br /> Paving 22nd Avenue from Hilyard to Alder Streets. ['}[ere '.~ere. no protests. <br /> <br /> Paving the alley between Wl~lmmette and Olive Sts. from 13th Avenue North <br />232 feet. There were no protests.~ <br /> <br /> Paving the alley running pa al~e~ with west yth and 8th Aven~es b~tv~e~den <br />hawrenc~ and Llnc~Ln St~'eets. Geo.0. Yoran flled a written protest. <br /> <br /> paving 20th Avenue from Charnelton to Lincoln StreetS. E.E. Wyatt filed a <br />written protest and 0.A. Prince and Josiah Wills made lnquzry as to reason and <br />equities of such re-asses:~ment. <br /> <br /> Grading and gravelling the alley between Onyx and Mnerald 8ts. from 20th <br />to 21st Avenues.. There were no Protests. <br /> <br /> Paving the alley from llth to 13th Avenues from. High to Mill Sts. <br />were no protests. <br /> <br />T~ere <br /> <br /> Paving the alley between HigH St. and the Mlll race from 8th to 9th Avenues, <br />There were no Protests. <br /> <br /> Paving alleys running north and south and east and west between loth and <br />llth Avenues and Willamette and Olive Sts. There were no protests. <br /> <br /> Gr~ilng and gravelling the alley between University and Onyx Sts. from 20th <br />to 21st Avenues. There were no protests. <br /> <br /> Paving Rallro~d Blvd. from River road to Van Buren Street and Van Buren <br />Street from Rallro~i Blvd. to Blair St. There were no ~roTests. <br /> <br />Paving University St. from 22nd to 23rd Avenues. There were no protests. <br /> <br /> Paving Agate Street from Franklln olvd. to 24th Avenue and 24th Avenue from <br />Agate to Columbia Sts. There were no protests. <br /> <br /> Gr,_ting and gravelling the alley between University and Onyx Sts. fro~ 21st <br />t,) 22nd Avenues. There were no protests. <br /> <br />All protests madeon the various proposed re-assessments were discussed and, on <br />motion, were unanimously mverruled, <br /> <br /> Mfs. Warren D Smtth .appeared before the Co,. nell and spoke on supervised <br />play grounds for the children of the city atd asked for financial aid from the <br />elty to help maintain such play grounds. She asked such matter be taken up with <br />the Budget Com,nlttee to see ~uch fund ls pr. oyided. The Mayor appointed a <br />committee.consisting of Councilmen Wllll~son, Large a ~l L~b, to appear at the <br />T~x Payers meeting December 13th, to see If such fund ~.be Provided In the <br />budget. ~ <br /> <br /> Mrs. Mc~o~naok a~Peared and called the councils attention to the deplorable <br />'condition of Muerald Street betweenlSth and 15th Avenues and asked the same may <br />be repaired to eliminate the chuckholes. On motion such matter was referred to the <br />Street Committee. ' <br /> <br /> City City Attorney stated Stella Wilkinson has offered the City $600.00 <br />for Lot 16, of Huddl eston~s Addition, which is on West 8th Avenue. On motion <br />such offer was rejected. <br /> <br /> Councilma~ Hendershott spoke as to the Veltum and Clew Foundry about which <br />Jno. Zimmer complains as to the smoke therefrom. The maTter was discussed but <br />no action taken as the Ordinance is complied with by such foundry. <br /> <br /> <br />
