NCIL 02 THE CITY 02 EUGENE: <br />- That the Recorder of said City prepare a notice, setting .forth that it Is <br /> glven b~ order of the Co~oa Jouncil, and that complaints have been received by <br />_ the Common Councl~ of the dangerous condition of that certal~ buildl~ known as <br /> the .Encore Hotel situated lot 4, and the ~outh~lO fe~t of ~t one, B~ock <br /> Sklnner~s' Donation 'to J~ne Count~ now a part of the City of ~gene and that <br /> hearing will ~e h~ in the codncil chambers of the City Hall In the City of <br /> Eugene, Oregon, on the 28th day of December A.D., 1925, ~t 7;30 o'dlook P.M. <br /> and that the m~er and occupant ther~ of, to-wit: N.R.Gaylord, will be heard <br /> ~espect to such complaints and such'conditl~ .of the said ~core Hotel, <br /> that such not,ce Is served pursuant to theprev is ions of Ordinance No. 3705, <br /> of t'he City of ~gene, passed by the Common Co,oil of said city <br /> 1925, anal approved by the MaWr on the same day, and entitled "~ O~dinance to <br /> hear and determine and decl~e, after notice to owners, whether certa~ build- <br /> ings and 'stTuctures within the City of ~gene arepublie nuisances or not; ~d <br /> to provide for their removal In case of their being declared nuisances,' affd <br /> enforce the abatement of ~y n~lsance connected ther~lth; to declare wooden <br /> build'lags and strucutres constructed or erected within the fire limits to be <br /> nuisances and to provide for their sugary removal; to repeal Ordinances No. <br /> 879, No. 2105 and No. 3216, and to declare an emergeney.' ' <br /> <br /> And further that the Recorder shall cause said notice to be served u,pon <br />N.R. Gaylord who is the owner of the property in the manner provided by such <br />ordinance No. 3705. <br /> <br /> A Letter Was received from Warren D Smith ~ to the condition of the inter- <br />section of University Street and 18th Avenue. The Engineer stated it would soon <br />be cared for. <br /> <br /> The UniverSity of Oregon presented a ~etition to the council to consider <br />developments near the campus, of the University cf buildings as to being desirable <br />and as fire risks, etc. Such ~etltion was referred to thePlannlng. Commission. <br /> <br /> A letter v~a~ received from Stien Bros. asking for an extension of time of <br />60 days on the Van Buren Street and Railroad Blvd. improvem.ent, on Unlve r sit¥ <br />Street from 22nd to 23rd Aves. Improvement, and on 22nd Avenue from Univerisity <br />to Columbia Street improvement for ~easons therein set forth. On motion such <br />pet it/on was granted. <br /> <br /> ' Bids for the sale of gas, oil 'and kerosene for 1926, were received from <br />the standard, oil Co. Union Oil Co., and Associated 011 Co. SUch matter was <br />referred to the Finance Committee. <br /> <br /> The City Englneer made his report as to b. he present condition of the <br />Willamette ~lver as to pollution end his recomme~atlons ther eln. No action <br />was taken. <br /> <br /> A license ~as ordered issued to Nrs. A.M. Holmes to conduct a rooming house <br />et960 Willamette Street. <br /> <br />A per mit was g~anted to W.R. Robertson for ~n aerial at 1315 Olive St'feet. <br /> <br />Petition were received for street lights, as follows: <br /> 18th and Onyx 'Sis. <br /> 18th and Muerald <br /> 21st and Muerald <br /> 2~rd and Agate <br /> <br />14th and Emerald Sts. <br />MOth and Emerald <br />23rd and ~merald <br />24th and Columbia <br /> <br />22nd and Kinoaid <br /> <br />Said matters were referred to the Fire and Water Committee and it stated lights <br />were being p~tltloned for in ex'cess of the ability of the olty to supply and it <br />asked that a special co~mittee be appointed to devise ways and means to care fo_ <br />t~}e maintenance of lights granted under this and future petitions. The Nayor <br />appointed as such committee, SiMmons, McCully and Large. <br /> <br /> A petition was also received as to the light Just off from Ferry Street <br />between llth Avenue and the. Mill race, which has been heretofore maintained <br />by private partie.~ altho a street light, and asking the city to take over and <br />maintain such light. Said matter was referred to the Fire and Water <br /> <br />Committee. <br /> <br /> <br />
