1 ai of <br />104006 <br />5. New developments shall include consideration of improvements which <br />would accommodate urban public transit and other alternative modes. <br />6. Because it is recognized the Eugene Springfield Area 2000 <br />Transportation Plan is a component of this Metropolitan Area <br />General Plan, the Transportation Plan should be evaluated and <br />revised, if necessary, to maintain consistency and assure <br />transportation facilities are available to serve land uses <br />included in the Metropolitan Area General Plan. <br />1. The special needs of the transportation disadvantaged shall <br />be considered when developing and implementing transportation <br />improvements . <br />8. The Mahlon Sweet Field Master Plan shall serve as the guide for <br />improvements of facilities and services at the airport. <br />9.. Mahlon Sweet Field shall be served with- the necessary urban <br />` services required to operate the airport as an urban facility. <br />10. Development within the airport environs but outside the airport <br />proper and outside the urban service area shall not be provided <br />urban services. <br />11. Airport - related commercial and industrial development shall be accom- <br />modated on airport -owned property or on privately-owned industrial <br />or commercial property designated within the urban growth boundary. <br />12. The portion of the airport environs outside the influence of <br />the General Plan shall be protected through enforcement of the <br />Lane County Wi l amette -Long Tom Sub area Plan and the ordinances <br />and regulations supporting that Plan. The airport environs <br />within the influence of this General Plan shall be protected <br />.through the enforcement of the ordinances and regulations which <br />support this General Plan. <br />13, Local governments shall control developments within the airport <br />environs in order to minimize airport impacts upon the - population and <br />to ensure that development does not interfere with the air space needs <br />of the airport (including airport safety zoning, etc.),. <br />14. Land in the airport environs and 'in the urban growth boundary shall be <br />protected from premature development in order to preserve <br />p it for <br />legitimate airport - related development which cannot be locate d <br />elsewhere within the urban growth boundary. <br />15. The City of Eugene and Lane County shall adopt up--to -date airport <br />safety ordinances wh -i ch regulate the height of structures, electro- <br />magnetic and/or visual interference with aircraft, and other <br />hazards to airport safety. <br />III-F-6 <br />
