B. Listen to complaints relating to violent acts, investigate the situation, and take <br />corrective action where appropriate. <br />C. Share information only with staff who have a need to know, generally a direct <br />supervisor and /or the Risk Services Director. <br />Response and Reporting <br />A. Should a violent incident develop, the first priority should be the safety of <br />employees and other persons in the area. If an employee feels threatened or in <br />danger of imminent bodily harm s /he should take the following steps: <br />1. Leave the scene, if it can be done safely. Any City em� yee' I1" o ledge of a violent act involving any other City <br />employee muto rrt it i �d ately to a supervisor, division manager, <br />department manager or the Human Resources Director. <br />Investigations `' <br />City employees Upon receiving a formal report of an act of workplace violence by a City <br />employee, Human Resources will direct a confidential and thorough investigation to be <br />conducted in a timely manner. <br />All reports will be handled discretely. Confidentiality will be maintained as far as <br />practicable. <br />A written record of the investigation will be made. The investigative materials will be <br />maintained in Human Resources in a confidential file. <br />
