In all instances your supervisor's approval must be <br />obtained. <br />Defense and Indemnification Policy <br />The City of Eugene acknowledges its legal responsibility to indemnify and defend its <br />officers, employees and agents to the extent prescribed by Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) <br />30.285 and 30.287. The City shall indemnify and defend its officers, employees and <br />agents against demands, whether groundless or otherwise, arising out of an alleged act or <br />omission occurring in the performance of duty, unless the City determines that the acts or <br />omissions alleged involve malfeasance by the officers, employees or agents, or willful or <br />wanton neglect of duty. <br />Persons provided with defense and indemnity by the City shall cooperate fully with the <br />City and counsel. If a person fails to cooperate fully or acts in any way that prejudices <br />the defense of a claim or demand, the City, at any time, may refuse to provide or <br />withdraw defense or indemnity. <br />Military Leave <br />If you have worked for the City for six (6) months, you may be entitled to a military leave <br />not to exceed fifteen (15) calendar days in any one training year for annual active duty for <br />training in accordance with State and Federal laws. If you are attending annual training <br />or you receive orders, please contact Human Resources regarding potential benefits. <br />Workers' Compensation <br />In the event of an on-the-job injury, all City of Eugene employees are provided benefits <br />in accordance with Oregon Workers' Compensation Law. Benefits may include medical, <br />temporary disability, and permanent disability benefits. Risk Services administers the <br />City's Workers' Compensation benefits. Upon receipt of your claim, Risk Services will <br />evaluate and make a decision on disposition of your claim as required by law. <br />Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) AND Oregon Public Services <br />Retirement Plan ( OPSRP) <br />The City participates in the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) and the <br />Oregon Public Service Retirement Plan ( OPSRP). Currently, both PERS and OPSRP <br />require two contributions for each eligible employee: a mandatory employer's <br />contribution, paid by the City, and an employee contribution equal to 6% of the <br />employee's salary. Currently, the City pays the employee's contribution. <br />Tier One, Tier Two, and OPSRP Benefits <br />Employees hired prior to January 1, 1996 are eligible for membership in PERS Tier One. <br />Employees hired on or after January 1, 1996 are eligible for membership in PERS Tier <br />Two.
