Police Department. Contact Human Resources to determine which positions <br />require a background check. <br />Human Resources has the paperwork available for finalists to complete prior to <br />the background check. When the finalist has completed the paperwork it is to be <br />returned to Human Resources Division, who will then work with the Police <br />Department to begin the background check. The results of the background <br />check will be reported to Human Resources, who will contact the hiring <br />supervisor. Conditional letters of employment must be in writing and given to the <br />finalist prior to the physical exam. A Conditional Offer Letter template is available from <br />Human Resources Division. <br />Drug Screens <br />All regular new hires for the Police and Fire Departments must pass a drug screen test. <br />Those new hires that have a physical exam will have a drug screen as part of the exam. <br />All others will have the drug screen test only. This policy does not apply to current City <br />employees who promote or change jobs to a position in the Police or Fire Departments. <br />
