Employees should be aware that the City may access, view, or listen to any electronic <br />record or communication created or stored on City equipment. All employees should <br />also be aware that the use of a password does not give rise to any right of privacy and <br />that the use of the deletion keystroke or button does not necessarily mean that a record, <br />communication, or document has been eliminated from a computer. <br />Acceptable Personal Uses of Office Equipment and Information Technologies <br />during Non -work Time <br />The City's information technologies are intended for professional use in performing the <br />duties of an employee's job. The City makes a limited exception for personal use of the <br />City's electronic office equipment and technology during non -work time only in <br />accordance with the following guidelines: ,, <br />A. Personal useof a City -owned cellular phone is allowable only for reasons <br />that are directly related to official duties such as notifying a family member <br />about a meeting that runs late or a last- minute change of schedule, or if <br />the employee cannot wait to make an emergency personal call until they <br />have access to a regular telephone. <br />E. This policy does not limit the use by City employees on their own time of City <br />equipment and technology that is available for use by members of the public, <br />such as computers or copiers located in the library. <br />
