Mr. Bowerman said the LUCU work had discussions over usihg performance based code. <br /> Mr. Bowerman withdrew his motion. <br /> <br /> Ms. Edwards, seconded by Mr. Wanichek, moved to recommend to the City Council <br /> that the May 6th "Guiding Principles" document be adopted. <br /> <br />Ms. Muir said an alternative path for development was already being examined by staff. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bowerman, seconded by Ms. Rygas, moved to amend the motion by adding "fair" <br /> to the list. The motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br /> The main motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Ms. Rygas suggested actively pursuing sustainability in the market place. <br /> <br />In response to a question from Ms. Pierce regarding what her goal was, Ms. Rygas said it was to attract <br />more environmentally friendly jobs into the community. <br /> <br />Mr. Rexius said the committee was there to create jobs. He said he was fine with sustainable jobs coming <br />to the community but did not want to exclude other businesses that did not meet that definition. <br /> <br />Mr. Forbes called for input from the committee on whether it. Wished to move forward on that issue. <br /> <br />Mr. Bowerman said it was his highest priority. <br /> <br />Mr. Kahle said he was confused about how the word 'sustainable' was being used. <br /> <br />There was general discussion over the definition of sustainablel Mr: Bowerman said economic policy was <br />based on fossil fuels. He said development had to meet the needs of the present without compromising the <br />ability of future people to meet their needs.
