Attachment D: Text responses from consumer plastic bag ban survey
As a former truck driver I have seen the difference in delivery of both new bags and the recycling
of paper vs. plastic. 10:1 truck ratio! That is just the end result, for in the manufacturing and
recycling of plastic vs. paper the cost is way balanced towards plastic as well. So where is the
saving factor of using just paper?
Please do not ban them, but I would support a 5 cent charge to be refunded if brought back.
Personally I would not bring them back i would recycle, but watch the homeless and low income
out gathering bags. I worked for a short term at the landfill as a mechanic, think everone should
have to visit it at least ounce.Thank you.
If I don't get them at the store I will buy them. Have no use for paper bags. Would requrire lots of
laundry for all the reusable bags needed.
I' ve been to LA and even they ha e banned the bags! In some cities- they even charge people a
nickle if they have to get a paper bag.. Good idea for a little incentive to bring your own bags.
Even people who don't care about recycling are motivated... This is not rocket science.
Bags either paper or plastic should cost 25 cents each, but both need to be replaced by people
being forced to bring their own bags - it's not that hard!
I reuse my bags, but I'm one person in thousands. I think they should be banned worldwide.
The fact my tax dollars are going towards a survey reguarding plastic bags is pathetic. We have
much more important things to be fixing that are much more important than this stupic issue.
I think that charging for paper or plastic bags will take care of the issue. People are cheap and
will finally " remember" to being their own bags if they are charged. single use bags are a waste
of resources and we should stop accommodating laziness and charge !
I don't think the government/city council should decide what we can and can not use
I like that you can see through them, then use them over and over. I'll have to buy them if they
are outlawed. I'd dislike that.
City should not ban bags.
Leave plastic bags alone.
We re-use plastic grocery bags as trash bags for compostable waste and food scraps because we
have

no space for composting. Half our monthly trash pickup, by volume, is food scraps. We would love
curbside pickup or neighbood drop off for clean, organic, compostable food scraps.
if I and my neighbors are denied plastic bags from the retailer, we are simply going to have to buy
our own, all the time, and it would cost us more money.but were not going to use paper bags in
rainy weather, that is ridiculous. Also, the cost of paper bags is more than plastic, so forget the
stupid paper bags. If we wanted to use paper bags, I and all my neighbors would be using them
now. If you ban plastic bags, we will all just go out and buy them and use them. And not vote in
any new taxes either. Thank you very much.
They are used for t4rash bags, pooper scoopers, garden produce, wet swim suits, and many
other great uses.
Probably do away with single use plastic bags.
If you ban plastic bags, I will have to BUY plastic bags to use for my trash, therefore they will be
single-use. By re-using the ones I now get from stores, they BECOME multi-use.
I fully support a ban on plastic bags!! All it takes is a few weeks of getting in the habit of bringing
the reusable bags with you to the store and pretty soon it is not a hassle at all.
If plastic bags are used, I think there should be a prohibitive user fee, like 50 cents or something.
There is no reason to not bring my own bag.
Both retailers and consumers will adapt when plastic carryout bags are no longer an option.
I think it is great this survey is being conducted. If nothing more than making people aware of the
problems with these plastic bags in our environment.
BAN PLASTIC BAGS!
