The street is located north of the railroad <br />tracks and south of Skinner Butte Park, see attached map. <br />Change the existing street name from 3rd/4th Connector (a.k.a. 3rd/4th Avenue) <br />to Shelton Boulevard. <br />City of Eugene: Planning and Development Department. <br />Kent Kullby AICP, Planning Division, (541) 682-5453 <br /> <br />Purpose of Staff Report <br />The Eugene Code requires City staffto investigate the facts bearing on a proposed Street Name Change <br />and to prepare a staff report to the Planning Commission. The staff report must be printed and available <br />prior to the public hearing to allow the Planning Commission, affected and interested parties and citizens <br />an opportunity to learn more about the request and to review the staff analysis of the proposed street <br />name change. The staff report gives preliminary information, based on evidence submitted prior to <br />completion of the report, which may be supplemented by testimony and other materials presented at the <br />public hearing. <br /> <br />Request <br />At their work session meeting of December 12,2005, the City Council directed staff to initiate the <br />proceedings for a street name change application to re-name the 3rd/4th Connector (a.k.a. 3rd/4th Avenue) <br />to Shelton Boulevard. The request was initiated by the City Council based upon a request by the <br />Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson House Board members. The Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson House is <br />located on the flanks of Skinner Butte Park north of the 3rd/4th Connector. <br /> <br />Back2round <br />The initiation of the street name change request was based upon a recommendation from the Shelton- <br />McMurphey-Johnson House Board members, see attached letter dated December 5, 2005. The street <br />name change is recommended so as to honor Dr. Thomas Winthrop Shelton.
