Mayor Kitty Piercy and members of city council:

I am an eighth grade student at Prairie Mountain School. My purpose in writing

this letter is to inform you about the serious problem that students in the Bethel area face

on a daily basis. This serious problem would be the Golden Garden Ponds.

The Golden Garden Ponds are unsafe for children and adults. If it is called a park

it should be safe. If you seriously expect people to enjoy a day at the park it definitely

won't be there. Many people have drowned and many more will drown if the problem

doesn't get solved.

Prairie mountain students have lost one of their closest friends. So naturally they

have many idea's to make a resolution to the problem. Many unfortunately cost a lot of

money. A simple yet complex solution is to have many fundraisers to get money to help

make money. Some of the things we came up with are to put memorials up for all the

people who have drown and to plant flowers.

City council could do many things to help us do the many things. They could

give us money to do some of the things we have ideas for. They could put playgrounds

and walkways for the people to walk on.

My final thoughts are that both students and the city can help solve the problem.
Sincerely,
Troy Richey
